The Society of 1908 Golf Clubs

Prestwich Golf Club has teamed up with other clubs which celebrated their centenary in 2008 to form the Society of 1908 golf clubs.

This allows members the opportunity to play the courses of other member clubs either through a courtesy arrangement at reduced fees. Most Clubs offer Courtesy arrangements unless they are within 50 miles of Prestwich Golf Club in which case they offer 50% off Green Fees. One or two clubs make separate arrangements which are detailed in the Terms & Conditions below.

It is a condition that prior arrangements are made through the Professional at the relative Club and generally the offer is limited to only up to 4 players per day. Details of Participating clubs are given below.

Terms & Conditions of the Society.

The Society was formed to provide an opportunity for Golf Clubs founded in 1908 to become Members and thereafter enjoy the facilities and courtesy of each other’s courses.

It has been agreed that where courtesy is given it should be for up to four players at a time and subject to the visitors calling in advance to arrange a date and tee time.

Where Society Clubs are within 50 miles of one another it is suggested, in order to obviate the possibility of abuse of the facility, that a charge of 50% of the normal green fee be made.

Clubs may however mutually agree to vary these conditions, if they so wish, to either allow more than 4 visitors to play at any one time, or to provide a courtesy if the Clubs are within 50 miles of each other.

Because some Member Clubs are not privately owned they are not able to provide a courtesy within the principles set out.

Both Frilford Heath G.C. and Hollingbury Park G.C. cannot offer any courtesy.

Stoke Park Golf Club, also known as Stoke Poges, has a daily green fee of £125 they have agreed to reducing to reducing this fee to £75 subject to a booking being made through the Pro Golf Shop.

Penn Golf Club will offer the agreed courtesy but with playing being restricted to week days only.

Vale of Llangollen and Ripon Golf Clubs wish to charge a 50% green fee for all visitors because of the excessive demand to play their courses.
